New Scam: Diamonds
I was in Kamadan - American 1 - and saw a guy spamming that he wanted to buy diamonds in bulk for 5k each. I remember seeing them at the trader for 3.7k after the preview, and I had saved up 9 myself. I thought this was really wierd, because the guy was standing a little too close to the rare material trader.
At first, i'll admit, I was ready to sell the guy my diamonds for 5k each, and if he wanted more, then buy them from the trader and sell them to him and make a profit. But I realized the whole thing was a little too fishy. So I decided to take him for a ride. I offered to sell him my 9 diamonds at 5k each. He said "nty, I want them in bulk." That's when I knew he was a scammer. He said he wanted 100+ I told him no one was going to have 100 diamonds and that he should take my 9 because it was a sizeable amount.
Then I called him out saying that I knew that he knew they were 3.7k at the trader. And that he probably bought a ton before the Preview, and when everybody saw how common they were (dropping out of every dungeon boss chest, given away from missions) that he had lost money. I told him that he was trying to get people to buy 100 at the trader thinking they were about to make easy money, and then he would not buy them from the person, and he would hope that the trader price would go up and he could recoup some of the money he lost.
He told me that I was right and that I was the first person to call him out on it. He thought it was a good and funny plan...he then tried to talk to me about what would be a sensible investment, trying to play it off...
ugh.
Just be careful, and dont go buying tons of diamonds to sell to someone that is asking more than they can buy them from at the trader. You'll be stuck them all, and be broke.

That is quite funny. But again, a scam taking advantage of someone that is trying to take advantage of you.

i've actually seen someone spamming that they were buying ectos for a higher price than the merchant. told him that merchant was cheaper but he continued to spam so i bought one and he bought it. ended up buying around 100 more and he kept buying them. why? have no idea . ..
anyways, for this, if its too good to be true, its probably a scam.

I saw someone doing that with DYES the other day- 5k for white, 800g for blue, 400g for red, and so on (real prices- 2.4 I think for white, 190 blue and 280 or something for red). he wouldn't bloody stop spamming local even after there were 10 people on his case about it lmao

that's kinda similar to the scam where someone spams 'wts Milius' Eye 10k' and another guy spams 'wtb Milius' Eye 25k'
and like this, the 'buyer' had no intention of buying

Of course, the problem with this scam is, even if this guy gets 10 people to resell 1000 diamonds to the trader, it won't affect trader prices enough to affect him... moron.

Thats a dumb "scam", plus if he supposedly wanted to buy them in bulk of 100, he wouldn't be able to put more than 100k in the trade now would he...

Falsely advertising your interest in buying an item is a scam, especially since we see the malicious intent here.

Banned?
On what grounds?
You are like saying the CEO of McDonalds deserves to be executed for selling their 50 cent ground meat burger for a dollar.

He's not going to buy them from you, that's the point. So it is a scam. But it's idiotic, and one would have to be likewise idiotic to fall for it.

Oh on several, like attempting to rip of a player, Conduct unbecoming of a MMO character, Grand Stupidity.
The reversal of the same discussion about if someone sells a item for inflated price, If I sell a collectors weapon for 100k + and get a buyer, then they find out it possible to get it for 5 <collectors items>, I'm the seller will be getting banned.
Did you read the OP's post, He is saying the guy is running a scam buy spamming to BUY Diamonds for 5K each, wanting 100k worth.
Now I'm sure the only remotly scamming part comes in when some idiot buys 100k worth of Diamonds and then the buyer refused to buy...
Point being No scam is actually taking place, but if your stupid enough to attempt to rip off another player, then yeah you should be banned.
PS, the CEO of of McDonalds deserves to be executed for selling McDonalds, and brain washing kids to eat that crap.

Lol his not scamming anyone, Its your own stupidity that scamming the people who buy 100 Diamonds,
You won't get a result from reporting them, infact I hope anet sends a message replying "LFMAO" to anyone attempting to report them. And like I said if your buying 100 Diamonds to make a few extra Ks off another players lack of knowledge, you deserve what you get. And should be banned to spare the game your stupidity.

No, you're not "rite." Taking advantage of a new player is a slime-ball thing to do.
For those of you who don't quite seem to get what the OP is saying (there seems to be a lot of you), here it is in chat window form:
Scammer: WTB Diamonds in bulk, 5k each
Player A: I've got 9 I'll sell you!
Scammer: NTY, I want them in bulk
*Player A buys 91 diamonds from RMT, decreasing the RMT's supply*
Player A: OK, I've got 100 I'll sell you. (thinking, 130k profit- w00t!)
Scammer: NVM, I've got all I need (or some other lame assed BS, since he never intended to buy them)
*Scammer then moves to other district/town and repeats until the RMT's price goes up enough for him to sell the ones he's had stuck in storage since before the preview for a profit, since he missed the opportunity when they hit 8K before the preview.*

Kook, most of them understand what's happening. They just don't think it's wrong, and some even think the victims are the bad guys in this scenario. I've seen some of them on a similar thread posting similar opinions. Morality is a rare commodity these days, it seems.
